On Friday, June 23, our truck broke down. The oil cooler went out. We had left Charleston and were heading toward Wisconsin. The Ford Dealership couldn’t get us in until Monday so we stayed the weekend in Santee, SC. Fortunately, our truck was drivable as long as we didn’t go long distances or haul the camper.
Santee is a very beautiful area. It was very hot and humid but the beauty of Santee National Wildlife Refuge and Santee State Park kept us hiking and biking anyway. We also stumbled across a very unique restaurant, Lone Star Barbecue and Mercantile, which is near the entrance to the State Park. It is probably the most interesting restaurant we have visited. Great, homemade food!
