The Last Sea Turtle Nest of the 2017 Season

October 2, 2017 by SuzAnne Leave a Comment

Our last nest of the season. It was rainy, windy, and just chilly enough to make me wonder if I should even go. Then there was some pretty major construction on my way to the nest site. I had just talked myself into heading home when I saw a friend who was going rain or shine. I decided to … [Read more...]

The Eventful End to an Eventful Trip

September 1, 2017 by SuzAnne Leave a Comment

We had the best two and a half months on the road this summer. It all started according to our plan... Wait. No it didn't. Not even close. Even though, we had every detail of the summer mapped out, it all changed each step of the way and those changes began ten days before the trip even … [Read more...]

The Birds of the Shark Cage Dive

August 30, 2017 by SuzAnne Leave a Comment

Scroll to the bottom to view our video! Birds joined us almost the entire time we were in the Atlantic for the shark cage dive. We saw a lot of gulls but we will focus on the two birds that were totally new to us, the Wilson's Storm-Petrel and the Great Shearwater. Fast Facts About Wilson's … [Read more...]

Eastern Shore of Virginia National Wildlife Refuge, Cape Charles, VA – 2017

August 29, 2017 by Eva Pendley Leave a Comment

Chesapeake Bay, North American's largest estuary, has been a place my mom and I have wanted to visit for awhile because it is one of the things we talk with students about at Marine Science Adventures. We had set aside one week to explore the area but because of previous delays, we were left with … [Read more...]

Assateague Island National Seashore, Maryland, 2017

August 29, 2017 by SuzAnne Leave a Comment

The only bad thing about our visit to Assateague Island National Seashore was that we didn't have more time there. After a couple of  busy weeks in Boston and Cape Cod, it was a really nice change of pace. There's so much to do and see on the island. It all involves nature, hiking, biking, the … [Read more...]

Wompatuck State Park, Hingham, MA – 2017

August 29, 2017 by SuzAnne Leave a Comment

Wompatuck State Park is beautiful and quiet. It's close to Boston, Cape Cod, Plimoth Plantation, and Adams National Historial Park. Nantasket Beach is only 5 miles away. It's close to World's End, a beautiful park and conservation area. We loved the beautiful hiking trails and the paved … [Read more...]

Massachusetts, Your Food is Amazing!

August 28, 2017 by Eva Pendley Leave a Comment

I have to eat gluten-free so I don't always get to eat out when we travel. The Boston and Cape Cod areas were amazing, however. Not only did they have really good gluten-free food but they understood how to prepare it safely. Below are the restaurants we found: Chatham Fish and Lobster Co. in … [Read more...]

Cape Cod, You Stole My Heart – 2017

August 28, 2017 by Eva Pendley Leave a Comment

Cape Cod was my very favorite place that we visited this summer. The food was amazing, the people were nice, and the wildlife was unbelievable. I will never forget our time there and I hope to go back. Much of the area around Boston and Cape Cod is thickly settled so we assumed Cape Cod would be … [Read more...]

Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution Exhibit Center, Woods Hole, Massachusetts

August 28, 2017 by Eva Pendley Leave a Comment

This is a reall cool place. We learned a lot here! The town of Woods Hole in and of itself is worth the stop. We soon learned it's pretty much all about Marine Science. Driving through, we got to see The Atlantis, the big oceanographic research vessel. We definitely want to visit this town again … [Read more...]
