Boston, Massachusetts – 2017

Boston. Where do we begin?

There is so much to do in Boston that it’s hard to choose what to do. We chose the Freedom Trail, the JFK Presidential Library, and New England Aquarium but as we did those things, we found other interesting things to see and experience. It’s a fun city and we always felt safe.

The Freedom Trail was very interesting and educational. It’s very easy to navigate because you follow the red brick path to each stop. Some things are free and some things charge. Because we were limited on time, we chose not to pay to get into anything. We did stop at those places, however, and still found it worth it.

If you go:

Be prepared to walk a lot.

Bring along a good amount of cash in small bills. Every restaurant we ate at did not have a place add a tip to your receipt. Some parking places only accept cash.

Traffic was really bad when we were there. Navigating a Ford F-250 around the narrow streets wasn’t easy and we found it very difficult to find large enough parking spaces and parking garages with enough overhead clearance. We think we will take the train in next time we visit.

The ferry isn’t expensive and is easy to use. It also lets you see a lot around Boston Harbor.

If you want to get the Jr. Ranger Badge from the National Park Service, you need to stop by one of the main stops along the Freedom Trail like the USS Constitution. Make sure you locate the section in the book that has spaces provided for the Passport Stamps and get those at each Freedom Trail stop. Some stops have multiple stamps. You need to visit several sites along the Freedom Trail to complete this badge.

We loved the history of Boston, the old architecture mixed with the new, and the beauty at every turn. It’s a very old, unique city.

The food was amazing but we’re saving that for another post.
